Biopharmaceutical company Petrovax Pharm has announced receiving an expanded license from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia for the production of a meningococcal vaccine. The project for the localization of the full production cycle, with investments exceeding 3 billion rubles, is entering the final stretch — the launch of production is scheduled for 2026.
Following the inspection, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia expanded Petrovax Pharm’s manufacturing license and confirmed the compliance of the produced meningococcal vaccine with EAEU GMP requirements. This is a key stage of a large-scale investment project implemented at the company’s manufacturing complex in the Moscow region since 2022.
Readiness for Full Cycle
President of Petrovax Pharm Mikhail Tsyferov emphasized the company’s readiness to meet the needs of the Russian healthcare system:
“Our company has unique experience in the production and supply of vaccines against influenza and pneumococcal infection for the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations of the Russian Federation and is the largest Russian exporter of influenza vaccines. Already in 2026, we are ready to start the production of the meningococcal vaccine in a full cycle, including substance synthesis, and to ensure 100% of the need upon its inclusion in the NCPV”.
The quadrivalent conjugate vaccine (serogroups A, C, Y, W-135) successfully passed Phase III clinical trials in Russia in December 2025. Obtaining the registration certificate is expected in the summer of 2026. The company’s production capacities allow for the production of more than 3.5 million doses of this vaccine annually.
Quality Standards
The Petrovax Pharm manufacturing complex operates according to EAEU and EU GMP standards. In November 2025, the PHARMPROM portal wrote that the enterprise successfully passed a repeat audit by the State Institute for Drug Control of Slovakia (SIDC), confirming the high status of the quality system.
