In the second quarter of 2026, the modernization of the production building at the Federal State Enterprise (FKP) “Shchelkovo Biocombine” will be completed in the Losino-Petrovsky urban district (Moscow Region). The capacity expansion will allow the enterprise to produce an additional 67 million doses of inactivated foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine annually.
Construction Project Details
The modernization is taking place at the specialized “Virus” production site. According to the RosTender electronic platform, the cost of the construction works is estimated at approximately 312 million rubles.
- The total area of the reconstructed premises is about 1,900 square meters;
- To date, the construction readiness of the facility has reached 80%;
- The general contractor for the construction is SK-55, while the Main Directorate of State Construction Supervision of the Moscow Region oversees the progress of the works.
Significance for Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture
Foot-and-mouth disease remains one of the most dangerous diseases for farm animals. In the event of infection outbreaks, agricultural enterprises suffer serious financial losses, and export livestock products inevitably face strict restrictions.
Ramping up the production of the domestic inactivated vaccine (a preparation based on a neutralized virus) will reliably protect livestock, significantly reduce epizootic risks, and support the country’s food security.

The enterprise specializes in producing means for protecting farm animals: in addition to the FMD vaccine, the combine produces vaccines against rabies, brucellosis, equine rhinopneumonitis, and a number of swine diseases.
