Mark of Quality from the WHO: Uzbekistan’s Laboratories Integrated into the Global Drug Control System

Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical industry has received significant international recognition. As reported by the UzDaily.uz portal, on February 16, 2026, it became known that key laboratories of the state “Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products” officially joined the global networks of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dual Recognition

According to the official announcement, two structural divisions of the Center received the status of affiliated WHO members at once:

  • The Laboratory for Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines joined the Global Network of National Medicines Quality Control Laboratories (WHO-GNP).
  • The Laboratory of Vaccines, Serum Preparations, and Microbiological Analysis joined the Global Network of National Control Laboratories for Biologicals (WHO-NNB).

What Does This Mean for the Industry?

Integration into WHO structures gives Uzbekistan access to harmonized global methodologies and standards.

  • Reliability: Membership in the networks increases confidence in the results of laboratory tests conducted within the country and makes them comparable with international data.
  • Support: Uzbek specialists will be able to receive direct methodological and expert support from the WHO.

The granting of affiliated member status confirms that Uzbekistan’s laboratory capacity has reached the level necessary to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines and vaccines according to international protocols. This is an important step in strengthening the national regulator’s position in the global arena.
