JSC Retinoids has organized the production of pharmaceutical-grade purified birch tar in Balashikha, near Moscow. This raw material is critically important for the manufacturing of medicinal and dermatological products. As Regions reports, this is the only facility of its kind in Russia, and its current capacity allows it to fully meet the needs of domestic pharmaceutical companies for this type of raw material.
Exclusive Production for the Entire Country
JSC Retinoids specializes in manufacturing dermatological drugs and raw materials for the pharmaceutical market. According to Konstantin Nozdrin, the company’s director, the enterprise is the only producer of purified birch tar of this type in Russia.
The plant’s capacity already covers the demand of all Russian pharmaceutical companies for this raw material. The annual output is approximately 12 tons. The production process is organized into 12 cycles per year, with one ton produced in each cycle.
Complex Technological Cycle
The high quality and safety of the final product are ensured by a complex multi-stage technological process. It includes several stages of raw material preparation and purification:
- sampling;
- filtration;
- adjusting the product to the required pharmaceutical parameters.
The full production cycle for one batch takes about a month. This is due to the high requirements for the purity and stability of the resulting purified tar.
Applications and Standards
Purified birch tar is widely used in the production of medicines, primarily in dermatology. It is valued for its pronounced antiseptic and keratoplastic properties.
According to the company, their drug “Berestin” is produced using patented technology and is standardized specifically as a medicinal product.
