The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has amended the Decision on the definition of over-the-counter categories of medicines. This is reported on the EEC website.
According to the source, the general criteria for classifying drugs as OTC have been supplemented with special criteria for individual active substances. This approach allows to ensure over-the-counter sale of medicines, if the manufacturer has taken into account risk factors specific to this active substance, and to expand the list of medicines available for sale without a prescription.
In addition, the Commission amended the format for indicating the date of manufacture and the date of expiry of a medicinal product, prescribed by Recommendation No. 2 of the Board of the Commission of February 26, 2020. In order to utilize the possibilities of pharmaceutical manufacturers, it is allowed to apply the most flexible formats of date application with indication of month and year of expiration date. In this case, the expiration date is the last day of the month indicated in the coding line.
